Maintenance of fire equipment:

All fire equipment is required to be serviced at regular intervals.

• Fire Extinguishers are required to be serviced on an annual basis.
• Fire Alarm Systems are required to be serviced at least twice annually. (to BS 5839)
• Emergency Lights are required to be serviced at least twice annually. (to BS 5266)

Once an assessment of your existing fire equipment has been made, or once fire equipment has been installed, an agreement will be reached with yourself as to the frequency and cost of the required servicing (we generally stick to the minimum requirement as above).
Without regular servicing and maintenance, fire protection equipment will deteriorate. By maintaining regular service intervals you:

• Adhere to British Standards and insurance company requirements.
• Reduce false alarms, and more importantly total failure when in a fire situation.
• Extend product life.

Fire extinguisher training:

Short courses (approximately 30 to 45 minutes) are offered to train staff in the use of portable fire extinguishers. The course will include:

• The theory of combustion (Triangle of Fire).
• Classes of fire and fire extinguishers (which extinguishers to use on which fire).
• Rules for Fighting Fires.
• Practical demonstrations – how and when to use the different fire extinguishers (not on real fires).
